Fakes Project
The topic of
Proyecto Falsos (Fakes Project) is the fake versions of certain characters (generally children characters) that proliferate in the Buenos Aires streets, mainly in carousels, children’s hairdressers and fun fares. An involuntary and misshapen museum of copies: Mickeys that look like a dog, tabby Pink Panthers, Batmans eating cotton candies, bewitched Bart Simpsons, psychedelic Popeyes….
Everything is mystery and fascination in these cartoons. Who draw them? Is he a cynic, a self-conscious cartoonist? Or is, a touching and authentic lover of cartoons, a pure soul? Which is his vision of the whole when painting? Is there a model? Or does the brush determine its whimsical directions till reaching these surprising versions? Where do these drawings come from? Where are they repeated over and over again?
Grown-ups who draw for kids and they do it as if they were kids, fake and hallucinatory reproductions of grotesque heroes, rusted action figures that have lost the colors and insist on laughing, always far away and always at a step from disappearing, always at meters from forgiveness.
Juan Pablo Cambariere, the artist who promotes this idea often says that there is a weird beauty behind all of this.

El tema del
Proyecto Falsos son las versiones falsas de ciertos personajes (generalmente infantiles) que proliferan en las calles de Buenos Aires, principalmente en calesitas, peluquerías infantiles y peloteros. Un involuntario y deforme museo de copias: Mickeys que tienden a perro, Panteras Rosas atigradas, Batmans comiendo algodones de azúcar, Bart Simpsons hechizados, Popeyes psicodélicos…
Todo es misterio y fascinación en estos dibujos. ¿Quién los pinta? ¿Es un cínico, un humorista autoconsciente? ¿O es un conmovedor y auténtico entusiasta, un alma pura? ¿Cuál es su visión del conjunto a la hora de pintar? ¿Hay un modelo? ¿O el pincel va determinando sus caprichosos rumbos, hasta llegar a caer en esas versiones sorprendentes? ¿De dónde vienen estos dibujos? ¿Por qué, una y otra vez, se repiten?
Adultos que dibujan para los niños, y que lo hacen como niños; reproducciones falsarias y alucinatorias de héroes grotescos; muñecos despintados y corroídos que insisten en sonreir, siempre a lo lejos, siempre a un paso de desaparecer, siempre a metros del olvido.
Juan Pablo Cambariere, el artista promotor de esta convocatoria, suele decir que detrás de todo esto existe una rara belleza.
